An Exploration of Arts Advocacy
This blog is a collection of personal research, writing, and thoughts, focused around arts advocacy and political engagement in Australia. The primary focus of this work was to grow my own skills and knowledge, but by publishing it I hope it can become a useful resource for others. I welcome all feedback and dialogue that may lead to more comprehensive and rigourous information.

Engaging with Politicians
This project began as a way of getting my head around the Australian political system, and making myself a contact list to kickstart my journey into lobbying. I’ve organised my research into step-by-step resources for anyone looking to do the same, including an overview of the levels of government, how to find and contact politicians, and tips on how to do it.

Advocacy Resources
When I was leading an arts organisation I never engaged in advocacy as much as I wanted to because I didn’t have the time or energy to read the reports, find the facts, and prepare all the things I would need. I’ve put together some resources which are aimed at giving people the tools and inspiration they need to make advocacy easy.

Advocacy Thoughts
I’m not very good at writing formally or academically, but I am passionate about advocacy and creating a place for discussion and resources. The aim of this blog is to get all the thoughts out of my head onto paper, link it with relevant research, and then invite peers to contribute, challenge and/or affirm. It’s a kind of way for me (and hopefully others) to lay the groundwork for future arts advocacy work. I decided to be candid and conversational in tone, because how I feel most comfortable.
